Draft profile – JaMarcus Russell

Name – JaMarcus Russell *

Position – QB

Height – 6-6

Weight – 260

College – L.S.U

Age – 21

Potential – A

Positives – Russell like any other resident in Louisiana has had a tough road of late, however Russell took it in stride and actually sheltered 12 people following the storm. That is a prime example of his leadership, like a Brady Quinn, Russell is a field general on the field and he’ll get any of his players fired up. Russell may have the strongest arm in the entire NCAA, he’ll zip it in there with the best of them. That will only serve him well at the next level. Along with the big arm, JaMarcus is very strong and looks like a Daunte Culpeper type. He also runs a very affective 2 minute drill, and no huddle, he has great vision and knows where is receivers are supposed to be.

Negatives – Russell has a problem with the release of the ball, he has hands very high and if he lowered them he would be able to get the ball of quicker. Injury prone. Sometimes over throws his WR’s, with his arm strength. Needs to be more mobile, like he was a couple years back.

Rating – 6.9

Projected draft position – Top 20

Brady Quinn is not worthy of a #1 pick in my opinion. Last time a ND QB got this much press, he was picked #2 behind Drew Bledsoe. While Quinn may have a better career than Rick Mirer, he will not be a top QB. Sounds like Daunte Culpepper any chance he declares Nick ?
