Bills @ Patriots – 1:00 pm Sunday

New England Patriots

Let the party begin, the Patriots will kick off the 2006 season against the Buffalo Bills this weekend, if your not pumped for this one there is something wrong with you. The Dolphins lost on Thursday to the Pittsburgh Steelers, so if we beat the Bills on Sunday we’d already have one game up on the Dolphins.

I’m not worried about the Jets. But, lets get to the game, the Patriots had a lot of people back on the practice field this week; Tedy Bruschi, Chad Jackson, Doug Gabriel, and Nick Kaczur were all the notable players practicing. It’ll be very interesting to see if Chad Jackson will play, I actually think he might. He’s been studying the playbook while out and he said his hamstring is 100 % fine. Even if he can’t go the Patriots offense will still look to be sharp with Brady and company. In the backfield watch for a huge game from the duo of Corey Dillon and Laurence Maroney, while Maroney has been seen wearing a knee brace he’ll be ready to go. On the defensive side of the ball, I’m pretty confident that we’ll be able to pressure J.P Losman and cover Lee Evans.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills will look to shock the Patriots and pull off a win, the odd are against them (10 point underdogs) but don’t sleep on this team. The Bills have a nice young offense led by Willie McGahee at RB, J.P Losman at QB, and Lee Evans at Wideout. On defense they lost safety Lawyer Milloy but they drafted Donte Whitner to eventually replace him, not to mention the Bills have a great CB duo with Nate Clemons and Terrence McGee. They also get some more help at LB with Takeo Spikes coming back from a season ending injury. The biggest key for the Bills will be to run McGahee right at the Patriots defense, make them stop the run. To run, the Bills will need to get great blocking from the questionable offensive line.

Players to watch :

RB – Willie McGahee
WR – Lee Evans
LB – Takeo Spikes
KR / CB – Terrence McGee

Prediction : 34 – 10 Patriots
