Round 7, Pick # 229

Do you know who pick # 229 in April’s past NFL Draft was? No? It was Patriots Defensive Back Willie Andrews. The rookie was from Baylor, and at the time we drafted him nobody in Pats nation really knew who he was. Instead of going on about his solid college career, why don’t we look ahead to the future for this kid.

Will he make the team? Sure, in both mini camp’s Andrews showed off his speed and returning ability often looking like the best KR out there. And on the defensive side of the ball, Andrews looked good in coverage showing quick feet and good reads on the WR routes. As you know in any NFL teams mini camp’s, the players do not wear pads so that means no hitting. But, with pads on Andrews says he’ll be ready. When in rookie Pats mini camp Andrews was asked about first round pick Laurence Maroney. “I can’t wait to hit him.” How’s that attitude? A 5 foot 9, 180 pound CB said that towards a 6-0 216 quick and shifty RB.

Willie Andrews will look to start a KR and turn Patriot fans heads, and have them forget about Bethel the bust once and for all. And if he gets a chance to play some defense (in preseason, or due to injury) he could make some noise.

Watch out for Willie Andrews. Pick # 229
